WEATHER:The long term weather forecast still remains a rather pleasant one with the lack of century mark readings in the 7 day forecast-still good news for foothill residents. The expected highs are in a range from 93 to 96 degrees for Tollhouse for the next 7 days, and one can hope that we may have seen the last of the 100+ readings for the current year. A little bit of weather trivia tells us that the latest day of the year to have seen a 100 degree reading was October 10. This took place in 1978. The average last day of 100 degree readings each year is September 10th, and we're almost there. Either way, we'll take what we can get, and those 90 degree readings look pretty good to us right now. A note to those with sensitive lungs: The Weather Service has issued an Air Advisory due to the smoke from a fire in the San Jose area. The prevailing winds responsible for our cool down, are also respnsible for bringing the smoke into the area. Folks with asthma and other breathing difficulties are advised to avoid strenous outdoor activities today and tomorrow. TRAFFIC:The roadways appeared to have been pretty clear today. The only incident of note that we came upon was at 8:10 pm this evening when a deer and an SUV had a difference of opinion as to whom the roadway belonged. In this case, the deer lost the arguement, and the SUV, which also happened to be a Deputy Sheriff's vehicle won. In this case, it would appear that the Deputy got his man, er, critter, without having to fire a shot. We believe, however, that the deer probably didn't feel quite so magnaimous about the whole incident.

WEATHER:Well, we're going to try this again. For the first time in over 10 days, there are no century mark readings in the current 7 day forecast. And what a difference a day makes for today. We make it up to 105 yesterday, but today's high is only forecast for 93 degrees. This is due to a low pressure system off of the Northern California coast. This system has brought a breath of fresh air into the valley and will also be responsible for shuttling the remnants of Tropical Storm Henriette, currently off the coast of Baja, into Arizona and New Mexico later in the week rather than having the moisture heading up this way as had been earlier forecast. TRAFFIC:Nothing has been noted on traffic reports today as this is being written at 1:00 pm this afternoon. Road work is being done by Caltrans this week, however, between Pine Ridge and Shaver, with motorists told to expect up to 10 minute delays while travelling that way.
